Gu Binglin, then President of Tsinghua University, and Chen Jining, then Executive Vice President of Tsinghua University, established and launched the Doctoral Program in Developing Country Studies (DCS)

August 2012

The DCS Doctoral Program of Tsinghua University welcomed its first group of PhD students

June 2015

The Teaching Committee of the DCS Doctoral Program of Tsinghua University was established and held its first meeting

September 2017

Institute for International and Area Studies (IIAS) of Tsinghua University was established

January 2018

The 1st Board Meeting of IIAS was held, and academician Gu Binglin was elected as President of the Board

March 2018

The DCS Doctoral Program of Tsinghua University welcomed its first graduate, who then became the first full-time researcher at IIAS

July 2019

The first Tsinghua Area Studies Forum was held

July 2019

The first Meeting of the Academic Committee of IIAS was held, and Professor Xue Lan served as Director of the Committee

January 2020

The first group of IIAS-Oxford joint postdoctoral researchers went to the UK to carry out research

September 2020

The IIAS began to organize admission and training of PhD students as an independent teaching institute at Tsinghua

July 2020

The postdoctoral mobile station of the IIAS was established.

The first Tsinghua Area Studies Forum was held

The second Board Meeting of the IIAS was held, and Professor Wang Xiqin was elected as President of the Board
