Anthony Black

Anthony Black, Emeritus Professor at the School of Economics, University of Cape Town. His research mainly focuses on development economics, trade and industrial policy. He has acted as an advisor to the Department of Trade and Industry in South Africa on automotive policy and as a consultant to other African governments and to many international organizations, including the African Development Bank, African Union, OECD, UNCTAD, and UNIDO. His publications include two edited volumes, ”Towards Employment- Intensive Growth in South Africa”, “Value Chains in Sub-Saharan Africa: Challenges of Integration into the Global Economy“, etc. His published articles include “Industrial policy and unemployment: Can South Africa do better in labour demanding manufacturing”, “The evolution and impact of foreign direct investment into South Africa since 1994”, etc.
