Eugene Rogan

  • Introduction

      Eugene Rogan is Professor of Modern Middle Eastern History at the University of Oxford, and a Fellow of St Antony’s College. He is also Director of Oxford’s Middle East Centre. He took his B.A. from Columbia University in Economics, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University in History and Middle Eastern Studies. He is a Fellow of the British Academy.

      Professor Rogan is author of The Arabs: A History, first published in 2009. The Chinese edition of The Arabs was published by Zhejiang People’s Publishing House in 2019. He is also author of The Fall of the Ottomans: The Great War in the Middle East, which first appeared in 2015. The Chinese edition of The Fall of the Ottomans, was published by Beijing Imaginist/Guangxi Normal University Press in 2016. His other books include Frontiers of the State in the Late Ottoman Empire: Transjordan, 1850-1920) and, with Avi Shlaim, The War for Palestine: Rewriting the History of 1948. His books have been published in 18 languages.
