Zhong Weimin

  • Introduction

      Prof. Zhong Weimin is a professor at the Department of History, School of Humanities, Tsinghua University and the executive deputy editor-in-chief in the Editorial Department of Journal of Tsinghua University.

      From 1988 to 2005, he worked in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Social Sciences in China and Historical Research, the Deputy Director of the editorial office, and the Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Social Science Digest. From 2009 to 2015, he served as the Deputy Director of the Department of Liberal Arts Construction in Tsinghua University, the Vice President and Secretary General of the National Social Science Journals of Institutions of Higher Learning Institute, and the Executive Director of Chinese Economic History Society (CEHS).

      Research interests: history of Chinese society and economy, historical theory, and academic evaluation.

      His works include Tea and Opium: China in the Process of Economic Globalization in the Nineteenth Century (SDX Joint Publishing Company, 2009), Emperor Shenzong of Song (Jilin Publishing House of Literature and History, 1997), as well as many papers published on journals.

      In 2010, he was awarded as “the Leading Talent in the Press and Publication Industry” by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of PRC.
