Lu Guangsheng

  • Introduction

      Lu Guangsheng is a professor with a doctor’s degree and a doctoral tutor. He serves as the Chief Expect in the Center for China’s Neighbor Diplomacy Studies, the Director of the Institute of International Studies, the Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and the Vice Director of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Research Center in Yunnan University. Mr. Lu is one of the middle-aged and youth academic leaders in Yunnan Province and has been granted with the title of “Donglu Scholar” in Yunnan University. His other job titles include, Executive Director of the China Southeast Asian Studies Association, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Economic and Diplomatic Research Association, and Vice Chairman of the “Lancang-Mekong River Innovation Think Tank.” From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Lu studied at the School of International Relations & Public Affairs of Fudan University, majoring in international politics (focusing on international political economics), and received his doctorate in law. From 2009 to 2011, he conducted his postdoctoral research at the Postdoctoral Research Station of History at Yunnan University. In 2010, he was a visiting researcher at the East Asian Institute (EAI) of National University of Singapore and a visiting scholar at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. In 2015, he was a senior visiting researcher at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. His research interests include China’s peripheral diplomacy, international relations of Southeast Asia, Mekong sub-regional cooperation, etc., and he also hosted several research projects including a National Social Science Fund Project. Prof. Lu’s major works include Impacts of Myanmar’s Political and Economic Transition on China and the Countermeasures, A Study on the Economic Relations between China and Mainland Southeast Asia, Southwestern Security and Regional Cooperation from the Perspective of Geopolitics, Regionalism and ASEAN’s Economic Cooperation, the Report on the Cooperation and Development in the Great Mekong Sub-Region (associate editor, from 2011 to now), dozens of academic papers published at home and abroad, and a number of commentaries. He also won the first prize, second prize and third prize of the award for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences in Yunnan Province.
