Sun Zhuangzhi

  • Introduction

      Professor Sun Zhuangzhi is the Director of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He also serves as the Executive Director of Chinese Research Center of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Vice President of China-Central-Asia Friendship Association, the Vice President and Secretary-General of High-level Joint Think-Tank for China-Russian Strategic Cooperation, and a member of Chinese Committee for Neighbor-State Friendship and Cooperation of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In 2010, he received the Special Governmental Grant from the State Council.

      His research field is international politics. He focuses on “One Belt and One Road” construction, international relations in Central Asia, and Shanghai Cooperation Organization. He has published dozens of books and articles, including Foreign Relations of the Five Central Asian States (1999), Recent Changes and its Impacts on Regional Security in Central Asia (2001), Afghanistan Problems and Regional Security in Central Asia (2003), Color Revolutions in CIS Countries (2011), Cross-Border Cooperation between Central Asian States (2014), “SCO’s New Developments and New Opportunities for China’s Foreign Economic Cooperation (2012), “Strategic Significances and Implementation Approaches of ‘Silk Road Economic Belt’” (2014), “Focal Points for Extending Cooperation Space in Belt and Road Initiative” (2018), and so on.
