Professor, President of Tsinghua University

Wang Xiqin, male, Han nationality, born in June 1968 at Tai County, Jiangsu Province, holds a Ph.D. degree and now serves as Professor. Prof. Wang joined the Communist Party of China in November 1990.

Prof. Wang was admitted to the Department of Radio Electronics of Tsinghua University in September 1986 (which was renamed to the Department of Electronic Engineering in 1989) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in July 1991. In September 1991, he was recommended to study for a doctoral degree in the Department of Electronic Engineering without taking the test. In August 1996, he graduated with a Ph.D. and stayed at the university. He served as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Dean of the Department of Electronic Engineering in December 2006, Deputy Dean of the School of Information Science and Technology in November 2010, Director of the Personnel Department and Director of Human Resources Development Office in August 2012, Deputy Director of the Supervisory Committee in September 2015, and Assistant to President in February 2016. In December 2016, he was appointed as Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Tsinghua University. In October 2018, he served as Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of and Executive Vice President of Tsinghua University. In March 2022, he was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee and President of Tsinghua University.

Prof. Wang has won the 2nd Prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the 2nd Prize of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Science and Technology Progress Award, and the 3rd Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the State Education Commission. Currently Prof. Wang acts as Vice Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of the Chinese Institute of Electronics.
