麦特里·昂敦，新加坡国立大学历史学系副教授、亚洲研究所（Asia Research Institute）副主任。他2001年毕业于密歇根大学安娜堡分校，获历史学博士，2002年起任职于新加坡国立大学。他的研究兴趣涵盖东南亚和南亚地区的民族国家构建、身份认同、公共历史、基础设施和佛教网络等。昂敦教授的主要著作包括专著《加隆王的归来：英属缅甸的历史、法律与叛乱（The Return of the Galon King: History, Law, and Rebellion in Colonial Burma）》及合著《缅甸历史：从古至今的传统与变革（A History of Myanmar since Ancient Times: Traditions and Transformations）》和《新编东南亚史（A New History of Southeast Asia）》等。
