On the basis of an agreement between the Institute for International and Area Studies, Tsinghua University (IIAS-THU) and St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, two Postdoctoral Fellowships are being offered for recent Tsinghua doctoral graduates in the field of Area Studies in 2021.
Eligibility:
There are strict eligibility requirements and potential candidates are advised to check these carefully.
Candidates who intend to apply for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Area Studies at St Antony’s College should have completed their PhD at Tsinghua University within the last three years, and be committed to pursuing a career within the field of Area Studies. The area of specialization can cover any region of the Global South.
Candidates who have completed their doctoral thesis and are awaiting final acceptance can apply, and if accepted for the Fellowship will be required to gain final acceptance before taking up the position.
Application process:
Application must be in English and should consist of a summary of the doctoral thesis (2-4 pages), a research proposal for the work they intend to do while on the postdoctoral fellowship (2-4 pages), a CV, and 2-3 letters of recommendation, including one from a doctoral supervisor.
The applications will be reviewed by the Academic Committee of IIAS and St Antony’s.
Duration:
The postdoctoral position is for one year, with the possibility of a one-year extension for successful candidates.
Fees: The Postdoctoral Fellowship will cover all relevant costs: stipend, bench fees, accommodation, travelling, etc.
