On the evening of August 13, 2020, the Institute for International and Area Studies (IIAS), Tsinghua University held the first online meeting of the 1st Education Steering Committee, which was chaired by Zhao Jinsong, Associate Dean of Teaching.

The meeting was started by Zhang Jing, Associate Dean, who announced the list of the Education Steering Committees on behalf of IIAS Council. Next, Zhao Jinsong, Associate Dean, reviewed the development of IIAS and updated the recent progress and next steps of student education and training. Prof. Zhang Xiaojin, Director of the Education Steering Committee, and other members fully affirmed IIAS’ efforts of student education and expressed that the Council ill actively support the talent training of IIAS in all disciplines. The members also put forward practical guidance and advices on the subsequent curriculum design, interdisciplinary development and departmental cooperation.

Finally, Dean Yang Guang sincerely thanked all members for their participation and pointed out that in the context of the world’s great changes, driving area and country studies is of great significance, which calls for more exploration and innovation. He sincerely looked forward to all the members’ contributions of insights and strong support to jointly promote and continuously improve the training and education of IIAS.
