On December 18, the Institute for International and Area Studies (IIAS) held the 2025 Annual Work Review Meeting. The meeting consisted of two sessions: a review of faculty and staff work reports, and a performance review of leadership team and administrative officers. The meeting was chaired by Jiang Jingkui, Director of the Institute. Xue Jian, Party Secretary of the School of Economics and Management, and Huang Bei, representative from the University’s Office of Academic Development, attended the leadership review session as observers.
During the leadership review session, Jiang Jingkui delivered a report on behalf of the institute’s leadership team. The report reviewed the work in 2025 across five areas: organizational leadership, Party building, faculty development, talent cultivation, and academic research.
Jiang noted that the institute has long emphasized fieldwork-based training and research in area studies, achieving significant progress in both talent cultivation and academic scholarship. Under the strong leadership of the University Party Committee, the institute achieved several major milestones in 2025. In September, the doctoral degree authorization for the first-level discipline in Area Studies was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. In December, the proposal to establish additional teaching and research faculty positions was successfully completed, marking a new stage in the institute’s development and faculty building.
During the faculty and staff review session, faculty members reported on their work in teaching, research, and public service, while administrative staff reviewed their contributions to institutional administration and academic support.
Jiang Jingkui and He Xuebing, Deputy Director of the Institute and Secretary of the faculty and student Party branch, delivered concluding remarks. They commended the achievements of the institute’s faculty and staff and offered guidance for future work in the coming year.
