On March 10, the Institute for International and Area Studies (IIAS) at Tsinghua University held a Research Grant Application Workshop for 2026. Wu Haiyan, Senior Program Officer from the Project Office of the University’s Office of Liberal Arts Development, was invited to deliver a training session on research grant applications. The workshop was chaired by He Xuebing, Deputy Director of the Institute and Secretary of the Party Branch.
During the session, Wu Haiyan provided a systematic introduction to various types of social science research funding programs. She reviewed the annual application cycle, key deadlines, and important considerations for applicants. Drawing on practical examples, she also explained the standard procedures for project implementation, the research platforms supporting project work, and key points in preparing financial budgets, offering practical guidance for faculty members applying for research grants.
During the Q&A session, participating faculty members raised questions about specific issues encountered in grant applications and engaged in in-depth discussions with Wu Haiyan. The meeting atmosphere was lively and interactive.
The workshop strengthened faculty members’ understanding of research funding opportunities and application procedures, and effectively enhanced enthusiasm and preparedness for upcoming project submissions.
