On the morning of April 2, the Center of Tsinghua Think Tanks and the IIAS jointly held an exchange seminar. A delegation led by Ru Peng, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Center, visited IIAS and engaged in in-depth discussions with faculty members.
Jiang Jingkui, Dean of IIAS, introduced the Institute’s development in disciplinary construction, academic research, policy advisory work, and faculty composition, and extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation.
Ru Peng provided a comprehensive overview of the Center, covering its institutional profile, experience in serving national strategies, approaches to integrating academic disciplines with think tank functions, and future priorities. He also shared practical insights and recommendations on the writing and submission of policy advisory reports.
During the discussion session, young faculty members from IIAS raised questions based on their respective research areas and practical challenges encountered in preparing policy reports, and engaged in in-depth exchanges with the team of the Center. Both sides agreed to strengthen regular communication mechanisms and promote closer alignment between area studies research and national strategic needs.
The seminar was part of the “Think Tank Research into Schools and Departments” initiative. The meeting was chaired by He Xuebing, Associate Dean of IIAS and Party Branch Secretary. More than ten research faculty members and key staff from the Center, together with all faculty members of IIAS, attended the event.
