On June 7, 2023, Professor Lisa Roberts, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter and her delegation visited the Institute for International and Area Studies (IIAS), Tsinghua University and had a meeting with the institute on deepening cooperation. Delegates from the University of Exeter include Professor Richard Follett, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Gareth Standsfield, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Li Li and Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Stuart Bearhop. Executive Deputy Director Professor Jiang Jingkui, Associate Director Zhang Jing, Assistant Director and Assistant Researcher Duan Jiuzhou, Assistant Director and Assistant Researcher Shi Jing, and Assistant Director Assistant Researcher Wang Tingyi attended the meeting on behalf of the IIAS. The meeting was presided over by Associate Director Zhang Jing.
Professor Jiang Jingkui made a detailed introduction to the organizational structure, talent training and academic research of the IIAS, and highlighted the long history of cooperation and important partnership between the University of Exeter and the institute. Professor Lisa Roberts introduced the latest development strategy of the University of Exeter and expressed her appreciation for the long-standing partnership and the potential for further cooperation between both sides.
The two sides agreed to further consolidate the comprehensive partnership, continue to broaden the scope of cooperation, and deepen cooperation in sharing academic resources, conducting joint research, upgrading the e-book project and co-building field workstations, as well as to jointly promote talent training and research development in area studies.
