Tsinghua Journal of Field Research is a Chinese-language academic serial publication sponsored by the Institute for International and Area Studies at Tsinghua University and published by The Commercial Press. It is grounded in field-based research that combines immediacy with analytical depth, and seeks to reflect on existing fieldwork methodologies and theories across disciplines and research themes. The journal aims to advance systematic and innovative research on fieldwork, explore long-term pathways for the development of area studies through foundational and diverse field research, and provide a methodological basis for the construction of area studies as an interdisciplinary field.

The journal is positioned as a methodology-oriented publication in area studies. It focuses on key issues including fieldwork and interdisciplinary development, theories and methods of fieldwork, research ethics, and case studies. It advocates theoretically informed fieldwork research and publishes original academic articles on fieldwork methodologies from multidisciplinary, cross-national, and cross-regional perspectives, often organised around specific themes.

The inaugural issue was published in autumn 2023, and the journal is published biannually.
