On October 18, 2023, a delegation of the Chilean Parliament to China, including Javiera Ignacia Morales Alvarado and Karol Aida Cariola Oliva, visited the IIAS and held a seminar with our faculty members and students.

The two sides had in-depth exchanges and warm discussions on topics such as Chilean President Gabriel Boric's first visit to China, China-Chile relations and economic and trade cooperation, bilateral cultural exchanges, Chilean politics and political party development, pension reform and healthcare reform in Chile. Assistant Professor Xu Peiyuan, Assistant Professor Wang Shiao and doctoral candidates in Latin American and Caribbean Studies attended the seminar. This activity further deepened the participants’ understanding and thinking on the countries and regions of their research objects, and enabled the IIAS to have stronger ties with Chile and Latin America.
